Shares of NTPC climbed 5 percent intraday Friday. The country's largest power utility said it recorded highest single day generation of 733.12 million units, the highest so far in FY16, from its 18 coal based, 7 gas based, 8 solar and hydro power plants on August 27, 2015.
The declared cumulative capability of the stations was 91.10 percent and plant load factor (PLF) of 86.34 percent on the day, it added.
During financial year 2014-15, NTPC Group contributed 25 percent of total electricity generated in India with 16 percent share of country’s total installed capacity as on March 2015.
It recorded gross generation of 241.261 billion units on standalone basis in FY15, registering a growth of 3.42 percent. PLF of NTPC’s coal stations was 80.23 percent against national average of 64.46 percent. All NTPC power plants achieved plant availability of or above 83 percent.
NTPC Group's installed capacity at end of Q1FY16 was 45,048 MW, increased by 1,920 MW from 43,128 MW at the end of same period last year. In case of coal-based power plants, plant availability factor in the quarter ended June 2015 was 91.61 percent (against 89.29 percent Y-o-Y and 97.18 percent Q-o-Q).
At 13:07 hours IST, the scrip of NTPC was quoting at Rs 123.85, up Rs 4.70, or 3.94 percent on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
