Lincoln Pharma shares up 6% on vaginal spray launch in India

Lincoln Pharmaceuticals shares surged more than 6 percent intraday Friday after launching Vaginal spray in India.

"Micronized progesterone vaginal spray is now launched in first time in India. With the launch of this new product, revenues and profitability of Lincoln will go up," the Gujarat-based healthcare company said in its filing.

The brand of Micronized Progesterone vaginal spray is ART Luton that is indicated for the treatment of luteal phase support in ART, dysmenorrhoea, premenstrual syndrome etc.

"Progesterone is essential for the development of decidual tissue and the effect of progesterone on the differentiation of glandular epithelia and stroma has been extensively studied. Progesterone administration decreases the circulatory levels of gonadotropins," Lincoln said.

Progesterone is lipophilic in nature and diffuses freely into cells, where it binds to the premenstrual syndrome etc.
