Global retail giant Walmart is set to move Bharath Reddy, Senior Vice President, Information Technology (IT) and Information Security (InfoSec) at Flipkart, to its Global Technology team in an internal move as early as next month, as per a company email reviewed by Moneycontrol.
This will be a rare instance where Walmart Global Technology Team will hire from its subsidiary in India and move an employee to a larger global role.
Over the years at Flipkart, Reddy has led various verticals, largely around IT, since being appointed in 2015. Reddy had joined the e-commerce major after spending over a decade at Yahoo.
“Bharath (Reddy) will be with us till the first week of September to ensure a seamless transition. We are in the process of appointing a new leader for the IT & InfoSec functions, and shall share an update in due course,” Kalyan Krishnamurthy, group CEO, Flipkart told employees in an internal email.
Flipkart did not immediately respond to Moneycontrol’s request for comments.
Reddy’s move comes ahead of Flipkart’s flagship annual sale event, The Big Billion Days (BBD), which drives a significant chunk of the company’s gross merchandise value (GMV).
Reddy played a key role in managing BBD in 2024, as per his LinkedIn.
Bharath (Reddy) has been an invaluable member of the Flipkart leadership team for a decade and has been instrumental in building a strong IT and InfoSec organization, CEO Krishnamurthy said in his mail.
“His pragmatic and results-oriented approach has helped drive significant innovations in the IT organisation. He has led several key initiatives, including business automation across the Flipkart Group, CX Transformation, Production Security, and Engineering Productivity. He also led the consumer packaged goods (CPG) charter on an interim basis for a year, where he established the long-term tech excellence roadmap for Flipkart,” the mail concluded.
