Anicut Capital backs Sedna with Rs 50 crore to build tech-driven B2B platform for HoReCa industry

Sedna HoReCa, a newly launched business-to-business (B2B) platform for the hotel, restaurant and catering (HoReCa) industry, has raised Rs 50 crore in equity funding from Anicut Capital. The capital will be used to build “India’s first integrated, technology-driven B2B solutions platform” for the fragmented HoReCa ecosystem, with expansion planned across 20 cities in the next 12 months.

Sedna has been founded by Mahadevan Narayanamoni and Saurabh Pandey, who earlier co-founded Aknamed – a tech-led hospital supply chain business acquired by PharmEasy in 2021. The new platform is structured around three verticals: B2B software-as-a-service (SaaS), commerce and distribution, and products and food solutions.

The SaaS vertical includes SupplyNote, a widely used inventory management software, and BillNote, a point-of-sale (POS) software for restaurants and cafés. Both were developed by AdCount Technologies. AdCount’s founding team – Kushang, Abhishek Kumar, Harshit Mittal, and Nitin Prakash – has joined Sedna as part of the leadership team and will focus on scaling the integrated tech and commerce business.

The commerce and distribution vertical includes Vyap, a supply distribution platform, and SupplyLink, a third- and fourth-party logistics (3PL/4PL) solution tailored for HoReCa businesses. These offerings aim to solve operational pain points such as high procurement costs, erratic supply chains, and inventory losses.

Sedna is also entering the food segment with ready-to-cook and ready-to-serve offerings aimed at HoReCa businesses, food courts, direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and commercial kitchens. Chef Sanjaya Bhan, founder of Hospitality Unlimited, has joined the company to lead product development. Sedna is setting up a new food production facility in Bengaluru and will scale HU’s existing facility.

“With increasing technology adoption, advent of innovative business models, emergence of national retail players and launch of new food brands, this is the right time to build an integrated, technology-enabled B2B solutions business for the HoReCa industry,” said Saurabh Pandey, co-founder of Sedna.

“These are exciting times ahead for SupplyNote, Vyap and SupplyLink, as we accelerate market expansion, add new functionalities to our products and bring new solutions to our customers by leveraging the strengths of Sedna,” added Kushang, Co-Founder of AdCount.

Using the fresh funds, the company plans to expand to over 20 cities in the next 12 months.

“Sedna helps solve specific challenges that the HoReCa industry has been facing: escalating purchase costs, erratic fill rates, long lead times, inventory loss due to pilferage,” said Dhruv Kapoor, Partner at Anicut Capital.

The company is betting on its integrated model—combining software, logistics and food solutions—to become a one-stop B2B platform for India’s growing HoReCa market.
