Reliance Retail acquires Kelvinator to boost consumer durables business

With this deal, Reliance Retail plans to tap deeper into the premium home appliances segment, offer more choice to consumers, and accelerate its growth in the consumer durables space.

Reliance Retail on Friday announced the acquisition of home appliances brand Kelvinator, in a major move to strengthen its position in India’s fast-growing consumer durables market.

Kelvinator, known for pioneering home refrigeration and its popular 'The Coolest One' tagline in the 1970s and 80s, is expected to add strong brand value to Reliance’s expanding product portfolio. The acquisition aims to make high-quality, globally benchmarked appliances more accessible to Indian households.

“This is a significant step in our mission to bring trusted global innovations to Indian consumers,” said Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. She added that the company’s unmatched scale and wide retail network would help grow the brand further.
