Al-Falah University in Faridabad, which is under the lens in connection with the probe into the ongoing Delhi blast case, on November 13 received show-cause notice from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The University, according to NAAC, is neither accredited nor has it applied for accreditation. The autonomous body of the UGC, which assesses and grades higher education institutions, asked Al-Falah for an explanation as to why it has displayed false accreditation on its website.

"It is brought to the notice of NAAC that the Al-Falah University neither accredited nor volunteered for Cycle-1 for A&A has publicly displayed on their website that Al-Falah University is an endeavour of Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which has been running three colleges on the campus, namely Al Falah School of Engineering and Technology (since 1997, Graded A by NAAC), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology (since 2008), and Al-Falah School of Education and Training (since 2006, Graded A by NAAC)," the notice read.

"It is absolutely wrong and misleading the public, especially the parents, students and stakeholders ..." it added. NAAC also directed the University to remove the NAAC accreditation details from its website.

The notice comes amid the ongoing probe into the Delhi blast case, in which several doctors from Al Falah University have been arrested for alleged links to the accused Dr Umar Nabi. It has been confirmed that Umar was driving the white Hyundai i20 that exploded outside Red Fort metro station on Monday evening. At least 13 people were killed in the attack which rocked the national capital.
