Mumbai: Abhishek Bachchan buys 6 apartments in Oberoi's project in Borivali for Rs 15 crore

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has bought six luxury apartments in Mumbai's Borivali for Rs 15.42 crore, documents accessed by Zapkey show.

Located in Borivali's posh Oberoi Sky City, the six apartments sprawl a total of 4,894 sq ft and were sold at a rate of Rs 31,498 per sq ft. The sale agreement was signed on May 5, 2024.

The documents show that the first apartment with a carpet area of 1,101 sq ft was sold at Rs 3.42 crore. The second and third apartments, which sprawl 252 sq ft each, were sold at Rs 79 lakh. The fourth and fifth apartments, with 1,101 sq ft and 1,094 sq ft of carpet area, were sold at Rs 3.52 crore and Rs 3.39 crore, respectively. The sixth apartment was also sold at Rs 3.39 crore.

Sky City is an integrated living development across 25 acres in Borivali East which also consists of eight luxury residential towers and the premium Sky City Mall spanning over 1.5 million square feet.

Previously, Vikas Oberoi, chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty Limited, told Moneycontrol that it had entered into an agreement with Marriott International for the development of two Marriott properties, JW Marriott Hotel Thane Garden City and Mumbai Marriott Hotel Sky City in Borivali, to be completed by 2027-28.

A list of queries sent to Bachchan did not get any response.

Mumbai records major real estate transactions

According to a recent ANAROCK report, key areas in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and Delhi-NCR also saw average prices surge between 13-27 percent. In the last three-year span, Mumbai has been seeing several high-ticket deals in the residential and commercial segment, across real estate hubs like Borivali, Lower Parel, and Malabar Hills.

In June 2024, the industrialist and chairperson of Godrej Agrovet, Nadir Godrej, bought three apartments in Mumbai's Malabar Hill for Rs 180 crore. The apartment, sprawling over 13,831 sq ft, was sold at Rs 1.3 lakh per square feet and is located in the posh Ruparel House.

And in March, Rekha Jhunjhunwala, widow of the late billionaire stock investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, purchased almost all the units in a building to ward off any obstruction to the vista of the Arabian Sea from her Malabar Hill home. Jhunjhunwala's RARE Villa residence sits just behind sea-facing Rockside CHS, which was up for redevelopment.
