The YEIDA has handed over possession to a Boney Kapoor-led consortium for a film city near the upcoming Noida airport

A consortium led-by filmmaker Boney Kapoor along with developer Bhutani Group has been given the possession of a land parcel to build a Film City near the Noida International Airport, officials said on February 27.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to lay the stone of the Film City project in March, officials said, though the date is yet to be decided.

The land was handed over to the filmmaker’s firm Bayview Projects-led consortium  by the Yamuna Expressway Development Authority (YEIDA) on February 27.

The Film City will be spread across 1,000 acres in Sector 21, which is around 6 km from the airport along the Yamuna Expressway. The first phase of the project will be come up on 230 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 1,510 crore.

“The project will be fully developed in eight years’ time, with the first phase expected to be completed within three years,” YEIDA chief executive officer Arun Vir Singh said.

The Film City will have luxury villas for actors, state-of-the-art studios, production houses, a film academy, and entertainment zones and will also provide complete infrastructure for both domestic and international filmmakers.

In January 2024, Bayview Projects LLP and Bhutani Group won the bid to develop the project by offering an 18 percent revenue share to the Uttar Pradesh government.

The company outbid T-Series and consortiums led by actor Akshay Kumar and producer KC Bokadia, among others.

In June, YEIDA signed a concession agreement Bayview Projects. The consortium will start sharing revenue with the government after an eight-year moratorium period, officials said.

According to the master plan, the Film City will have 15 three-bedroom villas for actors. These villas will have a gymnasium, private swimming pools and space for personal staff.

In the first phase, the consortium will also build studios, outdoor sets and a university to train technicians.
