  • Marriott Bonvoy teams up with Swiggy for loyalty points
  • Members earn 5 points per Rs 500 spent on Swiggy services
  • Elite members get complimentary Swiggy One membership

Ordering dinner, stocking up on groceries or booking a restaurant table could now help you earn points toward your next hotel stay.

Marriott Bonvoy has partnered with Swiggy to allow members to earn loyalty points on everyday spending across Swiggy’s services, including food delivery, Instamart and Dineout.

Under the partnership, Marriott Bonvoy members earn five points for every Rs 500 spent on eligible Swiggy transactions. To start earning, users need to link their Marriott Bonvoy and Swiggy accounts through the Swiggy app.

Members with elite status in the loyalty programme - including Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador tiers - will also get a complimentary Swiggy One membership, which offers perks such as free deliveries and additional discounts.

The idea behind the partnership is simple: Instead of earning loyalty points only when they travel, Marriott wants members to be able to collect points through everyday spending as well.

John Toomey, Chief Commercial Officer for Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, said the Swiggy partnership is another step toward making loyalty rewards more accessible in everyday life. “With Swiggy, we are bringing loyalty into everyday life, turning daily spend into future travel.”

Let's understand how these points are earned on Swiggy.

How points are earned on Swiggy

Once the accounts are linked, members will be able to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on transactions above Rs 500 or more across Swiggy services.

For example:

  • An order worth Rs 1,000 earns 10 points
  • An order worth Rs 3,500 earns 35 points

The points will then be credited to the member’s Marriott Bonvoy account within 72 to 96 hours of the transaction.

Users can link their accounts directly through the Partner Rewards section in the Swiggy app, where they log in using their Marriott Bonvoy membership details.

How quickly do the points add up?

While everyday spending can help accumulate points over time, the pace is relatively gradual.

For instance, if someone spends about Rs 10,000 a month across Swiggy’s services, roughly Rs 3,000 on food delivery, Rs 4,000 on Instamart and Rs 3,000 on dining out, they would earn around 1,200 Marriott Bonvoy points in a year.

This means Swiggy spending alone may not immediately lead to a free hotel night, but the points can gradually add up when combined with hotel stays, credit card spending or other partnerships.

What is Marriott Bonvoy?

Marriott Bonvoy is the global rewards programme of Marriott International. Members earn points when they stay at participating Marriott hotels or through partner platforms and co-branded financial products.

The programme covers more than 30 hotel brands across over 10,000 destinations worldwide.

Points can be redeemed for:

  • Hotel stays
  • Room upgrades
  • Dining and spa experiences
  • Curated events through Marriott Bonvoy Moments, which include music, sports and cultural experiences.

How many points are needed for a free stay?

The number of points required for a free night varies depending on the hotel, location and travel dates. In many cases, a free night can require between 20,000 and 50,000 points.

The number of points needed for a free stay varies by property. For example, a night at Courtyard by Marriott Gurugram Downtown may require about 19,500 points, while a stay at ITC Maurya can cost roughly 32,000 points. At the higher end, rooms at JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity may require around 50,000 points per night.

How Marriott Bonvoy is expanding earning options beyond hotel stays

Marriott Bonvoy’s efforts to give members more ways to earn points outside hotel stays, is not limited to the Swiggy partnership.

For instance, Flipkart has partnered with Marriott Bonvoy, which allows users to convert Flipkart SuperCoins into Marriott Bonvoy points and vice versa after linking their accounts.

Marriott Bonvoy also offers a co-branded credit card with HDFC Bank, which lets cardholders earn Marriott Bonvoy points on travel, dining and everyday purchases. The card carries an annual fee of Rs 3,000 and includes a free night award worth up to 25,000 points.

Earlier, members could add up to 15,000 points to top up a free night award. From March 2026, members can now add or redeem up to 25,000 points to combine with a Free Night Award, increasing the chances of booking higher-value hotel stays. Free Night Awards can be redeemed for a complimentary one-night stay in a standard guest room at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels.

According to Khushnooma Kapadia, Vice President, Marketing, South Asia at Marriott International, India has become one of the fastest-growing markets for the loyalty programme.

She adds, “Our strategy in India has been to meet members exactly where they are. That means creating more opportunities to earn and redeem points through daily spending and passion-led experiences, not just travel.”
