Plants not only add a touch of greenery to the house but also make the house feel more light, fresh and airy. But if you are one of those who always ends up breaking the terracotta pots, well worry not, this DIY tutorial is just for you. You don’t need to have a green thumb to make these planters, just buy some ready to use concrete mix and make your DIY planters in a jiffy.
Materials needed
Ready to use concrete mix Water Drill Tape Spray paint Oil & rubber gloves Plastic or paper moulds in 2 sizes A stone/rock Method
Step 1
Very carefully read the instructions given behind the ready to use concrete mix and create a mixture. Once made set it aside and using a lot of oil, grease the inner sides of your bigger mould while greasing the outsides of the smaller mould. Ensure your smaller mould comfortably sits inside the bigger one.
Your moulds could be of any shape but just remember to pick ones that have a base otherwise your pots could topple over.
Step 2
Now very carefully pour the concrete mixture into the bigger greased mould and fill it only half way up. Now place the smaller mould into the concrete mixture deep enough so that your plants have enough space to grow. Once fixed, secure the position by placing a heavy rock and set it aside to harden.
Step 3
Once the block has hardened – discard the mould and drill holes into the bottom of the concrete block for drainage. Using some tape, draw some abstract patterns and spray paint your design. Choose colours like gold or neon pink as they create great contrast.
Now fill the mould with some dirt or manure and pot your plants. Now place these concrete planters anywhere around the house – just remember to water your plant regularly!
