Gold, silver prices today on November 5: Gold remained under pressure after recording its sharpest drop in over a week, as traders balanced the recent strength of the US dollar against a broader risk-off sentiment in global markets. Spot bullion hovered around $3,940 per ounce after sliding nearly 2% in the previous session, following a fifth consecutive day of gains in the dollar index. Meanwhile, global equities extended their declines on Wednesday, marking their steepest fall in almost a month amid concerns over stretched valuations, while most other commodities also retreated.

"It should not be a big surprise to see the yellow metal consolidate in a lower, $3,800-to-$4,050-an-ounce trading range," TD Securities strategist Bart Melek said in a note, according to Bloomberg. He cited factors such as uncertainty over the Federal Reserve's rate-cut outlook and concerns about retail demand in China.

The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index held steady after reaching its highest level since mid-May. Silver remained unchanged, while both palladium and platinum declined.
