The Pakistani Army has opened fire across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan also resorted to ceasefire violation along LoC for sixth straight night - on the intervening night of April 29-April 30.
Pakistan initiated the small arms firing in Baramulla and Kupwara also, which was swiftly responded to by the Indian Army.
“Further to the previous update about 29-30 April (Night), unprovoked small arms firing by Pakistan Army was also reported from their posts across the Line of Control in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector. Indian Army troops responded appropriately,” the Indian Army said.
Along the LoC, Pakistan opened small arms firing for the sixth consecutive night in various sectors of Jammu and Kashmir — this time in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors. The Indian Army retaliated with force.
Pakistan has been violating ceasefire along the Line of Control since the Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on April 22. As many as 26 people were killed by terrorists after identifying their religion in Baisaran meadow, drawing global condemnation and calls for retaliation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his public remarks on the attack at a Bihar rally, said that India would pursue the terrorists and their backers “to the ends of the earth”.
He has since then chaired a number of key meetings, including with the tri-services chiefs on Tuesday. He will chair the second Cabinet Committee on Security meeting since the terror attack today. He will also chair a Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs meeting thereafter, followed by a Union Cabinet meeting later in the day.
In his first CCS meeting a day after the terror attack, the Prime Minister took the call of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan and revoking all visas to the Pakistani nationals in India among many other key diplomatic measures.
