Oaktree Capital Management is set to commence its new office in Hyderabad from July 1, 2025, with about 200 employees, as per exclusive details received by Moneycontrol. The Hyderabad office, which will be looking after the company's IT and operations, is just an initial step to their plans of further scaling Oaktree Capital's business in India, says a spokesperson.

After launching its first office in Mumbai in 2023, it is now establishing its second Indian base in Hyderabad.  It will be located in the HITEC City, the IT hub of Hyderabad, with Ajay Maddali serving as its human resources director. Its Mumbai office is led by Gaurav Parasrampuria, the company's head of Asia global opportunistic strategy.

Oaktree functions as an independent business within the Brookfield family. With over USD 200 Billion-worth assets under management, Brookfield’s Oaktree Capital Management specialises in alternative investments, including private equity, credit, and real estate, with a global presence across 24 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

The Brookfield Asset Management had acquired a majority stake in Oaktree in 2019, with both entities then coming together to offer comprehensive alternative investment products in the industry. As of December 31, 2024, most of Oaktree's AUM is concentrated in the Americas with 66 percent, followed by Europe, Middle East and Africa constituting 17 percent as well as Asia-Pacific with similar share.
