The company has also shipped 6,068 units of its electric model, eVITARA, during August and September, signaling growing traction for Make in India EVs globally.

Maruti Suzuki India is set to surpass the four lakh vehicle mark in exports this fiscal, having already shipped over two lakh units between April and September, a senior company executive said.

The automaker, India’s largest, recorded a 52% year-on-year jump in exports in September, sending 42,204 units abroad compared to 27,728 units in the same month last year.

“In the first quarter, we exported around 1.10 lakh units, and in the April-September period, we’ve shipped over 2.07 lakh units. This puts us on track to meet our four lakh unit forecast for the fiscal,” Maruti Suzuki Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Affairs) Rahul Bharti said.

Bharti highlighted that Maruti’s exports are more than double those of its closest domestic competitor, giving it a clear lead in overseas shipments, mirroring its dominance in India’s domestic market. “There are 18 players in the market, but Maruti Suzuki’s exports are more than twice that of the nearest exporter in the country,” he noted.

He also highlighted the growth trajectory compared to four years ago, when annual exports were around one lakh units. “This year alone, in the second quarter, we’ve already crossed one lakh units,” Bharti added. For context, Maruti’s total exports in FY 2020-21 stood at 96,139 units.

The company has also shipped 6,068 units of its electric model, eVITARA, during August and September, signaling growing traction for Make in India EVs globally. Bharti described this as “a very strong statement for Make in India and for the world.”

He further noted that India’s recent free trade agreements have contributed to improved overseas car shipments. Among Maruti’s exports, sub-4 metre models such as the Fronx, Jimny, Swift, Baleno, and Dzire were the top performers during the first half of the fiscal year.

Key international markets included South Africa, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Chile, and Colombia, which collectively accounted for the highest volumes of Maruti’s overseas shipments.
