Trading on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE will remain closed on Wednesday, November 5, on account of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab or Prakash Parv.
As per the holiday calendar issued by the exchanges at the beginning of the year, this will be the only trading holiday in November. With the mid-week closure, markets will witness a truncated four-day trading week.
On the day, there will be no transactions in equity, derivatives, securities lending and borrowing, currency derivatives, and electronic gold receipts segments.
The next market holiday falls on December 25 for Christmas. These are the only two scheduled trading holidays remaining for the current calendar year.
Apart from these, the markets remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Regular trading takes place from Monday to Friday between 9:15 am and 3:30 pm, preceded by a pre-opening session from 9 am to 9:15 am.

MCX Holiday November 2025
According to the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), trading will remain shut in the morning session between 9 am and 5 pm on November 5. Operations will resume in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.
Banks in several cities will also remain closed on November 5 for Guru Nanak Dev Ji Jayanti, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday schedule.
