NSE’s MD&CEO, Ashish Chauhan awarded Lifetime Achievement Award by Regulation Asia in Singapore

Nation Stock Exchange’s (NSE’s) MD & CEO Ashish Chauhan has been awarded by Regulation Asia in Singapore on Monday for his contribution to the securities market. Chauhan has over three decades of experience in securities market and a founding key team member of the NSE.

Chauhan in his tweet on X wrote, “Humbled and deeply grateful to receive the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award from @RegulationAsia this evening in Singapore.”

Before joining NSE, the IIT Bombay and IIM graduate was earlier MD & CEO of BSE and is credited for the listing of the exchange. Chauhan has over three decades of experience in the securities market and known for his deep understanding of technology and the financial world.

A technocrat from IIT Bombay and IIM Calcutta, Chauhan is a founding member of the NSE and has been involved in the automation of stock markets in India since 1992. He is credited with setting up screen-based trading, satellite telecom, the NIFTY Index, derivatives trading and many other modern developments in the Indian stock market. He is considered the father of modern financial derivatives in India due to his pioneering work in the field.

Chauhan is also actively involved in higher education sector. He is Chancellor of Allahabad University and also a member of University Grants Commission (UGC). Chauhan is also in board of governors of some of the top management institutions.

NSE was also named the Winner of ‘Exchange of the Year’. NSE was commended for its sustained leadership, strong governance, and innovative initiatives that enhance transparency, efficiency, and market participation. The award in this category was received by Ankit Sharma, Chief Regulatory Officer – Listing & Investor Compliance at NSE.

NSE Clearing Limited was also named ‘Highly Commended’ in the Collateral Management Provider of the Year category at the 8th Regulation Asia Awards for Excellence 2025. NSE Clearing was commended for its innovative and scalable approach to collateral management, highlighting strong safeguards against systemic risk. The award was accepted by Vikram Kothari, MD & CEO of NSE Clearing.
