Niva Bupa Health Insurance on Friday said it is investigating claims of a possible data breach after receiving an anonymous email alleging possession of customer information.
In a regulatory filing, the company said it is assessing the situation and taking necessary steps to minimise any risks.
"The Threat Actor, via email, claims to have the customer data of Niva Bupa. As a matter of urgency, we continue to conduct investigations of data leak and implement measures to mitigate the risk," the company stated.
Niva Bupa did not provide further details on the nature or extent of the alleged breach.
Meanwhile, shares of Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Ltd closed 0.78 percent higher at Rs 77.50 on the NSE in February 21 trading session.
Shares of the company were listed in November 2024.

The Rs 2,200-crore issue had a price band of Rs 70-74 per share.
The initial public offer of Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company Ltd, formerly Max Bupa Health Insurance Company, got subscribed 1.80 times.
