Sensex and Nifty are poised for a positive start today (October 27), as indicated by GIFT Nifty, which was trading higher at around 25,924.

Indian market snapped six-day winning streak and dragged Nifty near 25,700, intraday, amid selling across the sectors barring metal and telecom names.

At close, the Sensex was down 344.52 points or 0.41 percent at 84,211.88, and the Nifty was down 96.25 points or 0.37 percent at 25,795.15. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices are trading flat.

GIFT Nifty (Up)

The GIFT Nifty is trading higher at around 25,924, indicating a positive start for the day.

Asian Equities (Gain)

Asian markets were trading higher in the early trade on Monday.

US Equities (Gain)

Cooler-than-expected inflation data and upbeat corporate earnings lifted all three major U.S. stock indexes to all-time closing highs on Friday, setting the stage for next week's earnings reports and an expected interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve.

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq recorded their largest weekly percentage gains since August, while the blue-chip Dow logged its biggest Friday-to-Friday jump since June.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 472.51 points, or 1.01%, to 47,207.12, the S&P 500 gained 53.25 points, or 0.79%, to 6,791.69 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 263.07 points, or 1.15%, to 23,204.87.

Dollar Index (Up)

The U.S. dollar rose to a more than two-week high against the yen on Monday at the start of a packed week of global trade negotiations and central bank meetings.

US Bond Yield (Up)

The yields on US 10-year Treasury and US 10-year Treasury yield were up nearly 2 percent each at 4.01 percent and 3.49 percent.

Asian Currencies (Gain)

All the Asian currencies were trading higher in the early trade on Monday with South Korean Won leading the gainers followed by Philippines Peso, Thai Baht, Taiwan Dollar, Malaysian Ringgit, Singapore Dollar, Indonesian Rupiah.

Crude (Up)

Oil prices rose in early trade on Monday after U.S. and Chinese economic officials sketched out a trade-deal framework, easing fears that tariffs and export curbs between the world's top two oil consumers could dent global economic growth.

Gold (Falls)

Gold fell — after posting its first weekly drop since mid-August — as progress on a US-China trade deal sapped haven demand.

Fund Flow Action

The Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) purchased equities of Rs 621 crore on October 24, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities of Rs 173 crore on the same day.
