Nifty Trading Plan for October 23

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are likely to open on a positive note on October 23, with cues coming from GIFT Nifty, which was trading higher around 26,254.

Indian benchmark indices ended higher on the first day of the new Samvat with Nifty finishing above 25,850 on October 21.

At close, the Sensex was up 62.97 points or 0.07 percent at 84,426.34, and the Nifty was up 25.45 points or 0.10 percent at 25,868.60.

The BSE midcap index rose 0.2 percent, and the smallcap index added nearly 1 percent.

GIFT Nifty (Up)

The GIFT Nifty is trading higher at around 26,254, indicating a positive start for the day.

Asian Equities (Slip)

Asian stocks opened lower following a volatile session on Wall Street that saw broad losses across

equities and haven assets.

US Equities (Down)

Wall Street closed lower on Wednesday as a wave of mixed earnings, including Netflix's disappointing results, dampened risk sentiment as investors assessed reports that the Trump administration is considering curbs on exports to China made with U.S. software.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 334.33 points, or 0.71%, to 46,590.41, the S&P 500 lost 35.95 points, or 0.53%, to 6,699.40 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 213.27 points, or 0.93%, to 22,740.40.

Dollar Index (Flat)

The dollar drifted higher against its major peers on Thursday as traders waited on the delayed release of U.S. consumer inflation data on Friday, while digesting tariff threats between Washington and Beijing.

US Bond Yield (Flat)

The yields on US 10-year Treasury were up marginally at 3.95 percent, while US 10-year Treasury yield remained unchanged at 3.44.

Asian Currencies (Down)

Asian currencies were trading lower in the early trade on Thursday with Japanese Yen leading the losers followed by Thai Baht, South Korean Won, Malaysian Ringgit, Taiwan Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Philippines Peso.

Crude (Gains)

Oil prices rose by more than $1 per barrel on Thursday, extending gains from the previous session, after the United States imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil over the Ukraine war.

Gold (Down)

Gold declined for a third day, edging back in the direction of $4,000 an ounce on concerns a prolonged rally has become overheated.

Fund Flow Action

The Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) extended their buying on fifth consecutive session on October 21 as they bought equities of Rs 96 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) turned net sellers as they sold equities of over Rs 600 crore on the same day.
