First Tick: Here are the top global cues for today’s trade

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open on a positive note on March 25 tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 23,758, a short while ago this morning.

The market extended the previous week rally, rising more than 1 percent on March 24 with Nifty hitting 23,700, intraday, amid buying across the sectors and a possible flexibility in President Trump’s tariff plan also added the fuel.

BSE Sensex and Nifty50 indices crossed 78,000 and 23,700 respectively for the first time since February 6.

At close, the Sensex was up 1,078.87 points or 1.4 percent at 77,984.38, and the Nifty was up 307.95 points or 1.32 percent at 23,658.35.

Here is how financial markets across the globe fared overnight:

GIFT Nifty (Up)

The GIFT Nifty is trading with higher around 23,758, indicating a positive start for the day.

Asian Equities (Up)

Asian stocks rose early Tuesday after US equities enjoyed one of their best sessions of the year, fueled by signs that President Donald Trump’s trade sanctions will be narrower than feared.

US Equities (Gain)

The S&P 500 rose sharply to end at its highest in over two weeks on Monday, lifted by Nvidia and Tesla following signs that the Trump administration might take a more measured approach on tariffs against U.S. trading partners.

The S&P 500 climbed 1.76% to end the session at 5,767.57 points. The Nasdaq gained 2.27% to 18,188.59 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.42% to 42,583.32 points.

US Bond Yield (Flat)

The yield on 10-year Treasuries down 9 basis points ta 4.33 percent and 2-year Treasuries were down 16 basis points at 4.02 percent.

Dollar Index (Flat)

The dollar hit a three-week high on the yen early on Tuesday and was firm across the board after some strong U.S. services data and cautious optimism on the tariff front.

Asian currencies (Down)

Asian currencies were trading lower in the early trade on Tuesday with Indonesian Rupiah leading the losers,  followed by Thai Baht, China Renminbi and Malaysian Ringgit.

Crude (Flat)

Oil prices barely moved on Tuesday as investors weighed the impact of U.S. tariffs on countries buying oil and gas from Venezuela against the effect of tariffs on industries such as automobiles on the global economy and oil demand.

Gold (Flat)

Gold was steady — following a three-day run of losses — with the market digesting President Donald Trump’s latest tariff threats.
