US Equities (Gain)

Wall Street indexes closed higher on Wednesday, led by the tech-heavy Nasdaq as Nvidia briefly reached a $4 trillion valuation, and Federal Reserve meeting minutes fueled hopes that inflation pressures from President Donald Trump's tariffs would not derail interest rate cuts this year.

The minutes for the mid-June meeting showed that most Fed officials said they expect rate cuts will be appropriate later this year, with price shocks from Trump's import taxes expected to be "temporary or modest." However, there was little support for a rate cut at the end of July meeting.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 217.54 points, or 0.49%, to 44,458.30, the S&P 500 gained 37.74 points, or 0.61%, to 6,263.26 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 192.87 points, or 0.95%, to 20,611.34.

US Bond Yield (Down)

The yields on the 10-year Treasury and 2-year Treasury yields were trading marginally lower at 4.33 percent and 3.84 percent respectively.

Dollar Index (Down)

The U.S. dollar slipped further from a two-week high versus major peers on Thursday, as President Donald Trump's latest tariff salvos failed to shake markets, except in Brazil where a threatened 50% levy sent the real sliding as much as 2.8% overnight.

Asian currencies (Gain)

Asian currencies were trading mostly higher in the early trade on Thursday with Thai Baht leading the gainers followed by Japanese Yen, Philippines Peso, South Korean Won, Malaysian Ringgit and Singapore Dollar.

Crude (Down)

Oil prices dropped on Thursday as the latest tariff announcements by U.S. President Donald Trump were perceived by market participants to threaten global economic growth and demand for the resource.

Gold (Up)

Gold held a small gain, as investors weighed President Donald Trump’s latest trade demands along with the outlook for the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate cycle.

Fund Flow Action

The Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 77 crore on July 9, while Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also bought equities worth Rs 920 crore on the same day.
