FIIs net sell shares worth Rs 1,189 crore, DIIs net buy equities worth Rs 2,232 crore

During the trading session, DIIs bought Rs 13,550 crore and sold shares worth Rs 11,317 crore, and FIIs purchased Rs 14,000 crore in shares while offloading equities worth Rs 15,189 crore.

For the year so far, FIIs have net sold Rs 87,366 crore, while DIIs have net bought Rs 86,589 crore worth of shares.

On January 31, Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,232.22 crore, while on the other hand, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) net sold shares worth Rs 1,189 crore, provisional data from NSE showed.

During the trading session, DIIs bought Rs 13,550 crore and sold shares worth Rs 11,317 crore, and FIIs purchased Rs 14,000 crore in shares while offloading equities worth Rs 15,189 crore.

For the year so far, FIIs have net sold Rs 87,366 crore, while DIIs have net bought Rs 86,589 crore worth of shares.

Market View

At the close of trading, the Sensex rose by 0.97%, ending at 77,500 points, while the Nifty gained 1.11%, closing at 23,508.4 points.

Biggest gainers on the Nifty included Tata Consumer, Trent, Bharat Electronics, Nestle India, L&T, while losers were Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Apollo Hospitals, JSW Steel.

All the sectoral indices ended in the green.

On today's market, Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities said that the bearish pattern of lower top and bottoms of the last one month seems to have reversed, as Nifty closed above the recent lower top of 21st Jan at 23426 levels. "The underlying trend of Nifty remains strong. Having surpassed the hurdle of 23500 levels, bulls could advance towards another resistance of 23800 levels in a short period of time. Immediate support is at 23400 levels," he said.
