Shares of multiplex chain PVR Inox rose 6.5% on December 15 as Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar has been creating new box office records.
Over the weekend, the Aditya Dhar-directorial stepped into the coveted Rs 300 crore club, becoming the third Hindi film to achieve the coveted feat in 2025 after Chhaava and Saiyaara.
Interestingly, the spy drama achieved the feat on Day 9 while Chhaava and Saiyaara achieved the milestone on Day 10 and Day 17, respectively. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel said the movie, which also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, has earned over Rs 350 crore at box office in ten days.
At 10:45 am on December 15, PVR Inox shares on NSE were trading 7% higher at Rs 1,127 apiece. Consequently, the Nifty Media index was trading 2.2% higher.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said on December 14 that Dhurandhar's second Saturday collections are the highest ever in the history of Hindi cinema.
Sunday turned out to be historic for the movie at the box office. The film clocked its highest single-day collection yet, raking in Rs 59 crore. With this, Dhurandhar crossed Rs 351 crore in just 10 days, beating Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 in second Sunday collections and setting a new benchmark for second-weekend performance.
Dhurandhar has officially surpassed Padmaavat, which earned Rs 302.15 crore in its lifetime run. This makes it Ranveer Singh’s highest-grossing film to date. The movie is within touching distance of Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, which ended its India run at Rs 435.33 crore.
With limited competition at the box office and packed theatres across country, the film continues to dominate screens nationwide. Capacity issues have been reported in several cities, suggesting demand is still high. Historically, such trends often lead to strong weekday collections as well.
Co-produced by Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios, Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.
Sacnilk, a box office tracker, said the night occupancy of Dhurandhar on Day 10 was a staggering 71.5%.
Dhurandhar follows the story of an Indian spy named Hamza who deeply infiltrates Pakistan to join Rehman Dakait's gang. The film is inspired by real-life events, ranging from the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, offering audiences an insight into the India-Pakistan conflict.
