Epack Durable soars 5% as China's leading AC major Hisense ties up to make in India

    Chinese consumer electronics major Hisense has tied up with EPACK Durable for a manufacturing unit in India to make air conditioners and appliances for domestic as well as export markets, sending share price of the AC maker higher by 5% in early trade.

    EPACK Durable - a major player in the room air conditioner manufacturing business in India - will be making several critical RAC components, small appliances, and some models of washing
    machines for Hisense in India.

    This tie up will also introduce Hisense’s latest home appliances to the Indian market, and the company said it aspires to become among the 5 brands in air conditioner and appliances in India in the next five years. EPACK hopes to leverage from Hisense's technological expertise along with premium design capabilities.

    Pankaj Rana, CEO of Hisense India said, “This partnership with combines Hisense’s technological expertise with EPACK’s manufacturing capabilities."

    The Hisense agreement is likely to garner additional revenue of approximately $1 billion over next 5 years for EPACK. As part of the agreement, EPACK will invest in a new manufacturing facility in Sricity (Andhra Pradesh) with a capacity of one million RACs by FY28, with plans for initial production to commence from June next year.

    Ajay DD Singhania, Managing Director & CEO of EPACK Durable said, “This collaboration with Hisense opens new opportunities for growth in both domestic and international markets."

    Shares of EPACK Durable are higher by 90% so far this  year, and the company has a market capitalisation of over Rs 3,700 crore.

    Earlier this month, EPACK Durable had entered in an agreement with Panasonic India to make essential components for Panasonic's Room Air Conditioners (RACs).
