Reward seems more attractive in smallcap: Ridham Desai

The combination of recent performance, volatility in earnings growth and valuations make midcaps the most attractive investment option over 1-3 years.

Here are expert equity calls for the day on how the markets are expected to trade:

Ridham Desai, Morgan Stanley: The combination of recent performance, volatility in earnings growth and valuations make midcaps the most attractive investment option over 1-3 years. The reward seems even more attractive in the small cap basket for investors with higher risk appetite. Our favourite midcap picks include Cox & Kings, IRB Infrastructure, Oberoi Realty, Fortis Healthcare and Pantaloon Retail.

Abhay Laijawala, Deutsche Equities: We continue to reiterate our preference for stocks geared to the rising prosperity in the hinterland. We continue to believe that the govt will maintain its political strategy of increasing thrust on 'inclusive growth'. The likely beneficiaries include M&M, Bajaj Auto, ITC, United Phosphorous & Shriram Transport Finance.
