The Indian rupee opened at 53.45 per dollar versus 53.22 yesterday.

Ashish Vaidya, UBS said, "With no immediate inflows lined up today and on the back of a stronger dollar, the rupee is likely to be under pressure. The range for the day is seen between 53.30-53.70/USD."
