DIIs net buy Rs 1,030 cr in equities on Feb 24 (prov)

FIIs were net sellers of Rs 4,824 crore in F&O. They were net sellers of Rs 497 crore in Nifty Futures and net sellers of Rs 4,074 crore in Nifty Options on February 24.

Delivery based selling was seen following stocks;


Tata Motors' delivery volume jumped to 20 lakh shares from 3 lakh shares and Jaiprakash Associates went up to 69 lakh shares from 17 lakh shares.


L&T's delivery volume increased to 15 lakh shares from 4 lakh shares and ICICI Bank's delivery volume increased to 38 lakh shares from 9.5 lakh shares.


Market outlook


The markets may see relief rally at opening trade today. Sentiment was brittle and FIIs sell figure was a shocker for markets - FIIs have net sold Rs 2,702 crore in cash markets on Thursday, as per provisional data available on NSE while DIIs were net buyers of Rs 1,030 crore in cash markets.


Crude oil will drive near term market move, which slipped nearly 5% from peak. Brent crude was down from USD 120 to USD 111 a barrel.


Bank and auto stocks may remain in focus. Technology stocks may become defensive going forward.


FIIs in F&O


FIIs were net sellers of Rs 4,824 crore in F&O. They were net sellers of Rs 497 crore in Nifty Futures and net sellers of Rs 4,074 crore in Nifty Options on February 24.


F&O cues


Rollovers were marginally lower than average. The Nifty Open Interest PCR was at 1.35. Nifty 5300 Put added 20 lakh shares in OI while Nifty 5400 Call added 17 lakh shares in open interest.

Massive short build-up was seen in Aurobindo Pharma. Short build-up was also seen in Alok Industries and ADAG stocks while long positions were seen in Hero Honda.
