The Indian rupee opened lower by 15 paise at 54.41 per dollar. Yesterday it closed at 54.26.
The euro traded around 1.28 to the dollar ahead of the ECB rate decision tomorrow. The dollar index was just holding above the 83 mark.
Himanshu Arora, Religare said, "The dollar is likely to strengthen in today's session on back of the negative sentiment generated by poor performance of the manufacturing sector in India. Poor unemployment data from Eurozone will further support the dollar. The range for the rupee is seen between 54.10-54.50/USD."
