Streaming platform JioHotstar has crossed 100 million paid subscribers, the company said on March 27. The surge in numbers comes on the back of strong demand fuelled by the ongoing Tata IPL 2025.
Its diverse selection of entertainment, including a wide range of TV shows and Hollywood movies, boosted the rise in its subscribers, JioHotstar said.
"JioHotstar's unprecedented landmark of 100 million subscribers is more than a milestone—it reflects India’s digital revolution, the power of storytelling, and the future of streaming," the company said in a statement.
Live-streaming of the other real-time events like aartis during Mahashivratri and Coldplay's concert blended technology, scale and emotion.
"We have always believed that world-class entertainment should be accessible to all, and crossing 100 million subscribers is a testament to that vision,” JioStar Digital CEO Kiran Mani said. The milestone not only underscores India’s limitless potential but also strengthens the company’s commitment to pioneering category-first experiences at an unprecedented scale."
Reliance Jio recently announced free JioHotstar subscription for its customers. As per the offer, the telecom service provider is offering up to 90 days of free JioHotstar subscription to its Jio SIM, JioFiber and Jio AirFiber users. The offer is available for both existing and new Jio SIM users who recharge with a plan of Rs 299 or above between March 17 and March 31.
