Karnataka's Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, on August 6, suggested that IT giant Infosys should consider expanding its presence to other districts across North Karnataka as well.

Addressing the staff at the Infosys Development Centre in Hubballi, Patil added that the government is committed to developing innovation corridors in Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Belagavi.

“The Hubballi Infosys Campus currently employs over 1,000 professionals. The Hubballi-Dharwad region has 43 engineering and 127 degree colleges, with nearly 35,000 students,” he further said.

Patil assured that the government’s efforts are directed towards creating a conducive ecosystem in Tier-2 cities.

He further added that along with promoting the IT sector, the government has prioritised enhancing connectivity, skill development, and quality infrastructure. “We will continue working towards attracting global companies and talent to the North Karnataka region,” Patil said.

The Minister observed that Artificial Intelligence and the digital revolution would be key drivers, going forward. In this context, he added, companies like Infosys, by continuing their success in regions like Hubballi, could help realise broader goals of regional development.

IT Minister Priyank Kharge, Infosys Executive Vice President Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar, Rajaneesh Malaviya, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
