The United States, UAE, Austria, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom remained the top destinations for Indian mobile exports.

India’s mobile phone exports continued their strong run, underscoring the country’s growing competitiveness in global value chains. According to estimates by the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), smartphone exports crossed $1.8 billion in September 2025, marking a year-on-year jump of over 95% compared to September 2024.

August and September are typically low-export months for the mobile industry due to production adjustments and seasonal shipment cycles. Despite that, exports in September 2025 remained exceptionally strong, signaling the strength and maturity of India’s mobile manufacturing ecosystem.

During April–September 2025, mobile phone exports are estimated at $13.5 billion, compared to $8.5 billion in the same period last year — a growth of more than 60%. The figures reaffirm that India’s mobile phone manufacturing sector is scaling rapidly while building on efficiency and reliability — the three key pillars of sustained global competitiveness.

The United States, UAE, Austria, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom remained the top destinations for Indian mobile exports.

The U.S. alone is estimated to account for nearly 70% of total exports during April–September 2025, up sharply from 37% during the same period last year.

Exports to the U.S. surged from $ 3.1 billion in April–September 2024 to an estimated $ 9.4 billion in April–September 2025, reflecting a near-200% growth. The spike highlights India’s expanding role as a trusted source for global smartphone brands catering to advanced markets.

“The sustained rise in exports reflects the strong foundation of India’s mobile phone manufacturing ecosystem. Global value chains are now deeply anchoring here. The surge in exports to advanced economies demonstrates global trust in India’s capability to deliver quality, scale, and reliability,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman, ICEA.

ICEA projects that mobile phone exports could reach $35 billion in FY 2025–26, up from $ 24.1 billion in FY 2024–25. The trajectory further consolidates India’s position among the world’s leading smartphone manufacturing and export hubs.

“India’s mobile phone industry is firing on all cylinders. The next phase of growth will depend on our ability to sustain the scale and competitiveness achieved so far. We must continue expanding this scale to a level that anchors sustainable exports and drives the deepening of the component and sub-assembly ecosystem within the country,” Mohindroo added.
