The price of gold has been on a rise for the past few days. The latest average price of 10 grams of 24 carat gold in India stood at Rs 85,210 on February 19.

While 24-carat gold is a 100 percent pure form of gold with no trace of any other metal, the 22-carat variant has 91.67 percent pure gold along with some traces of alloyed metals like silver or copper.

Gold fell on Wednesday on profit-taking after prices hit record highs recently, with investors watching out for peace talks after US President Donald Trump's administration agreed to hold more talks with Russia on ending the war in Ukraine.

In futures trade on the MCX, gold contracts for April delivery opened at Rs 86,058 per 10 grams as compared to Rs 86,113 a day earlier.
