Coal block allocations and other scams aside, the top worry for Indians are not the scams but economic stability says a survey done by Pew Research. Corruption in the government and corporate sector and crime come second on the list. According to the survey, only 49% of Indians are satisfied with the economy in 2012 as opposed to 56% in 2011.

Also, 66% of Indians think that their children will have a more difficult future. The world average is 81%.

And not surprisingly, 92% Indians say that the government is responsible for economic worries.

Director of the agency Bruce Stokes discloses some interesting findings.

Here is an excerpt of the interview:

CNN-IBN: You've certainly found in your survey that Indians are more worried about the economy than they were even last year. What the most worrying thing at present?

Bruce Stokes: The mood is down and that is to be expected since the economy is slow. The drop off in support of the economy is actually greater in India than it is in China or Brazil. Relatively the concerns are worsening faster here. People overwhelmingly blame the government.

CNN-IBN: How much in terms of percentage?

Bruce Stokes: 92% of the people say the government is to be blamed.

CNN-IBN: What worries the Indians most according to your survey?

Bruce Stokes: The top three issues are the economy - various aspects of the economy namely growth rate, gap between the rich and the poor. The second set of issue is corruption - public corruption, private corruption, crime.
