RBI buys Rs 5,783cr bonds under OMO

As a part of continuing efforts to bring liquidity to the cash-starved system, the Reserve Bank today bought Rs 5,782.95 crore bonds under its open market operations, against the target of Rs 10,000 crore.

As a part of continuing efforts to bring liquidity to the cash-starved system, the Reserve Bank today bought Rs 5,782.95 crore bonds under its open market operations, against the target of Rs 10,000 crore.

As per the central bank, there are four securities that were offered today as part of OMO. While government security (G-Sec) maturing 2017 with a coupon of 7.99% garnered Rs 648.5 crore, 7.80% GS maturing in 2021 garnered Rs 3,278.93 crore.

Similarly, RBI purchased bonds with 8.08% yield maturing in 2022 at Rs 1,267.15 crore and those with a yield of 8.26% and maturing in 2027 at Rs 588.29 crore.

The central bank had bought Rs 9,435.48 crore-worth bonds under its open market operation in the last week of November.
