Tata Communications Q1 net profit falls 35% to Rs 232 crore

The company's revenue from operations in the reporting period jumped 6.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 5,960 crore as against Rs 5,592 crore in the same period last year.

Tata Communications reported 34.9 percent year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit at Rs 232 crore in the first quarter, compared with Rs 357 crore in the year-ago period.

The company's revenue from operations in the reporting period jumped 6.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 5,960 crore as against Rs 5,592 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA for the quarter remain unchanged at Rs 1,137 crore. EBITDA margin stood at 19.1% with an improvement of 30 bps. Data revenue growth at 9.4% YoY, came in at Rs 5,130 crore, driven by digital fabric.

A.S. Lakshminarayanan, MD and CEO, Tata Communications, said: “Despite ongoing macroeconomic headwinds and continued pressures across the industry, we delivered a stable performance this quarter with a healthy double-digit growth in our order book and modest uptick in margins.

Kabir Ahmed Shakir, Chief Financial Officer, Tata Communications, said: “Our digital fabric continues to deliver, and we are pleased to report an all-around performance across our portfolio. We added multiple million-dollar deals this quarter to our order book. We are encouraged by the losses narrowing in our digital portfolio.”
