Bank of India (BoI) on Friday posted a 35 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 2,517 crore for the December quarter on account of a decline in bad loans.

The Mumbai-headquartered bank had earned a net profit of Rs 1,870 crore in the year-ago period.

The lenders' total income increased to Rs 19,957 crore during the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal against Rs 16,411 crore a year ago, BoI said in a regulatory filing.

Godrej Consumer Products reported a smaller-than-expected increase in third-quarter profit on Friday, hurt by the prolonged slowdown in urban demand.

The company, which makes the Cinthol brand of soaps among other products, reported a 14.2% rise in consolidated net profit of 4.98 billion rupees ($57.76 million) for the quarter ended Dec. 31.

JSW Steel is anticipated to report a significant decline in its net profit for the December quarter, primarily due to weaker realisations. However, lower coking coal costs and higher realizations in certain segments are expected to partially mitigate the losses.
