The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on January 17 launched the Sanchar Saathi mobile app to simplify the process of reporting suspected fraudulent communications.
The app allows users to directly flag suspicious incidents from their call logs, improving both security and ease of use for mobile subscribers.
The Sanchar Saathi portal, introduced in May 2023, has already played a key role in tackling fraud calls and boosting mobile security. The new mobile app builds upon this framework, providing users with a secure platform to manage and protect their mobile connections.
Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia also unveiled the department’s vision for National Broadband Mission 2.0, aimed at expanding broadband coverage nationwide. This includes plans for intra-circle roaming at 4G sites funded by the ‘Digital Bharat Nidhi,’ which will enhance mobile network access in remote areas.
In his address at the app launch, the Union Minister highlighted that these initiatives are designed to create a secure environment, ensuring the privacy and safety of all customers. The Sanchar Saathi app is expected to strengthen the government's efforts in establishing a safer digital ecosystem for mobile users across India.
