Tata Power on Thursday announced the commissioning of its 120-megawatt (MW) joint venture Itezhi Tezhi Hydro Power Project in Zambia. "Tata Power...today announced that the company has commissioned two units of 60 MW each of its 120 MW Itezhi Tezhi hydro Power Project in Zambia, in which Tata Power has a 50 percent stake," the company said in a statement. The synchronisation of both the units was completed last month, it said.
Itezhi Tezhi Power Corporation Ltd (ITPC) is a joint venture with Zambian parastatal utility ZESCO Limited (ZESCO), is a special purpose vehicle, which has been set to build and operate a 120 MW hydro power plant in Itezhi Tezhi district on Kafue River in Zambia. In another filing to BSE the company said that Tata Power through its joint venture company Industrial Energy Ltd (IEL) has synchronised the 67.5 mw unit 1 of its 202.5 mw IEL Kalinganagar project. These units are designed to cater to the requirment of LP steam, which is supplied to Tata Steel, which got commissioned in December last year.
