Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, on October 20 has said that it has signed a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Supreme Petrochem Limited for a 12.5 MW group captive project through a SPV - TP Saturn Limited.

Located in Achegaon, Maharashtra, the plant will generate around 27.5 million units (MUs) of renewable power annually.

Tata Power added that the addition of this proposed group captive power plant elevates Tata Power Renewable Energy's total renewable energy capacity to an impressive 7,902 MW. Presently, the company operates at a capacity of 4,191 MW, comprising 3,185 MW from solar and 1,006 MW from wind energy.

Supreme Petrochem is market leader in polystyrene and expandable polystyrene in India and is currently putting up an ABS plant (70 KTA) with a continuous mass process, a low-carbon footprint technology. The company is committed to use the clean energy to run its production units, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing.

The plant is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 20,075 metric tonnes per annum and is expected to be operational within eight months of the PDA signing.

We are supporting multiple C&I consumers with intensive energy requirements to join the green energy transition process through our customised green energy solutions.”

Further, N Gopal, Executive Director, Supreme Petrochem Limited, added,“By sourcing clean energy through this PDA with Tata Power Renewable, we are taking a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions and achieving our ESG goals of environmental protection to the greatest extent possible."
