Tata Comm exploring options for its data centre business

Tata Communications said it has retained Jefferies LLC to advice it in connection with exploring these strategic alternatives.

Tata Communications on Friday said it is exploring various options for its data centre infrastructure business in India and Singapore. The company was asked by the BSE to clarify on reports that Google, Amazon are in fray to buy its data centre business. In reply, the company enclosed its press release dated July 23, 2015 wherein it said as a policy it did not confirm or deny market rumours.

"It is exploring various strategic options for its data centre infrastructure business in India and potentially Singapore," the release said. Tata Communications said it has retained Jefferies LLC to advice it in connection with exploring these strategic alternatives.

"No assurance can be given that the company will determine to pursue a potential sale or enter into any definitive agreement," the company said. Tata Communication's data centre services feature over one million sq ft of collocation space in 44 locations around the world. Meanwhile, the company's shares closed 3.91 percent up at Rs 418.10 apiece on the BSE on Friday.
