SPG 2025 to focus on deepwater exploration, energy security

The event comes at a time when India is stepping up efforts to strengthen its energy security and expand its exploration footprint, amid projections that energy demand could nearly double by 2040.

The 15th Biennial International Conference and Exposition of the Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG) will be held from October 26 to 28, 2025, at the Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre and Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC).

With the theme “Rock to Cloud: Geo-Exploration Empowering Energy Evolution,” the conference will focus on technological advances and data-driven approaches in hydrocarbon exploration, particularly in deepwater and offshore segments.

The event comes at a time when India is stepping up efforts to strengthen its energy security and expand its exploration footprint, amid projections that energy demand could nearly double by 2040.

More than 700 delegates from over 10 countries are expected to attend, including geoscientists, researchers, and professionals from global exploration and production (E&P) companies, technology providers, and academic institutions.

The technical programme will cover areas such as seismic acquisition, imaging, reservoir characterisation, and digital geophysics. Sessions will also highlight applications of cloud data analytics and artificial intelligence in subsurface modelling, along with case studies on deepwater exploration.

An exhibition running alongside the conference will showcase new technologies and tools in seismic interpretation, cloud-based data management, and high-performance computing.

The event will also include a Geoscience Career Symposium, a business programme to foster industry collaboration, and continuing education courses conducted by experts.

To highlight the local culture, the organisers have planned a cultural evening and spouse programme in Jaipur, the “Pink City,” offering delegates an opportunity to experience Rajasthan’s heritage.
