The Supreme Court has dismissed former Ebix Inc chief executive officer Robin Raina’s special leave petition that claimed ownership of Eraaya Lifespaces Ltd and its subsidiaries, a statement by Eraaya said on September 1.
Eraaya told the top court’s bench led by the chief justice of India BR Gavai that the claims made by the former CEO was based on forged documents. Delhi High Court had also dismissed the plea on similar grounds, the company statement said.
The company said Raina has claims lacked substance and his repeated attempts to destabilise Eraaya and its global subsidiaries under Ebix have failed.
“Eraaya humbly perceives the judgement of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, as a strong reaffirmation of its integrity and trust in the Indian Legal System, which firmly protects bonafide businesses against frivolous litigations. Eraaya most humbly expresses its sincere gratitude to the Indian Legal System which stands for ethics, transparency and the rule of law,” said Vikas Garg, Vice Chairman & Executive Director at Eraaya Lifespaces.
In June 2024, Eraaya Lifespaces had acquired Ebix and the latter’s global headquarters was shifted to India from Atlanta, the company statement said.
