Centre has approved 23 chip-design projects under its Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme, to boost India's semiconductor design capabilities.

Fabless semiconductor player Vervesemi Microelectronics, part of government's Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme, shared the roadmap for its upcoming portfolio of Made-in-India advanced integrated circuits (ICs) on August 22, a key development in India's semiconductor ecosystem.

Vervesemi's upcoming portfolio of integrated circuits (ICs) are seen as a step towards accelerating India’s semiconductor self-reliance as well as driving global innovation. Vervesemi shared timelines for several notable ICs that will address critical applications.

Vervesemi said its one of the Application Specific Integrated Chip (ASIC) is being designed by the company is aimed at small motor applications such as fans and appliances, which can reduce import dependence. The sample of these ICs are expected in 2026. Another ASIC for precision motor-control is focused on EVs, drones, and industrial automation, also targeted for sampling in 2026.

“By building high-performance, Made-in-India ICs for strategic and consumer markets, we are not only driving import substitution but also showcasing India’s capability to lead on the global semiconductor stage,” Rakesh Malik, Founder & CEO of Vervesemi said.

Centre has approved 23 chip-design projects under its Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme, to boost India's semiconductor design capabilities.

“India’s ambition is to become a world leader in semiconductor design, envisioning a future where every device in the world has a designed-in-India chip,” Sunita Verma, Group Coordinator (R&D), MeitY said.

Vervesemi is among the first Indian companies to export semiconductor intellectual property (IPs) globally, with its proprietary machine learning-powered analog chain IPs, embedded in products of leading international manufacturers. The company's ICs are powering applications across sectors such as space, defense, industrial, and smart energy, and several circuits are currently being evaluated by customers worldwide, the government has said.
