Ather Energy on Aug 30 announced a set of rider safety upgrades through its new AtherStack 7.0 technology platform at the company’s annual Ather Community Day 2025 in Bengaluru.
One of the unique features is Pothole Alerts, which proactively warn riders of rough road patches or potholes and suggest alternate routes.
Early demonstrations of the feature drew enthusiastic reactions from users, with many calling it one of the most practical upgrades for Indian roads.
Ather has already mapped pothole data across major cities, including Bengaluru and Pune, where dense rider networks allow the company to build detailed road-condition maps. This database will continue to expand as more scooters feed in real-world data.
The system uses fleet intelligence gathered from lakhs of Ather scooters on Indian roads and issues real-time voice notifications when riders approach hazardous stretches.
Alongside this, Ather has introduced Crash Alerts, designed to distinguish between minor and severe accidents.
In the event of a serious crash, the scooter automatically notifies emergency contacts with the rider’s live location while also displaying critical rider details on the dashboard for quick assistance.
Swapnil Jain, cofounder and CTO of Ather Energy, said the company’s focus has been on making advanced technology accessible. “By combining AI with data from our connected fleet, we are turning everyday rides into safer and more intuitive experiences,” he said.
Other updates under AtherStack 7.0 include theft-prevention features like ParkSafe, which warns owners about unsafe parking zones, and LockSafe, which lets riders remotely immobilise their scooters. Owners can also control charging or shut down the vehicle remotely.
The new safety features will be rolled out via over-the-air (OTA) updates to the Ather Rizta Z and Ather 450X up to Gen 3 models in the coming months.
