Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said the new aircraft reflects the airline’s focus on improving travel comfort based on passenger feedback.

Akasa Air has expanded its fleet with the induction of its 31st aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200 that landed in Bengaluru on December 10. Registered as VT-YBH, the aircraft marks another step in the airline’s steady growth trajectory since it commenced operations in August 2022.

The latest aircraft is one of the first built to Akasa Air’s customised specifications and features Safran Z200 seats with a four-inch recline, redesigned backrests, improved cushioning, and both USB-C and USB-A charging ports.

Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said the new aircraft reflects the airline’s focus on improving travel comfort based on passenger feedback. “Every addition to our fleet represents much more than capacity; it reflects our ongoing promise to offer the highest levels of service,” Dube said.

He added that features such as enhanced cushioning and multi-type USB ports were included to meet the needs of frequent travellers. “Each of these features embodies our commitment to designing comfort that is genuinely responsive to the lived experiences of our customers,” he said.

The airline has expanded quickly over the past three years and currently operates 31 aircraft. Akasa Air has more than 195 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next seven years as part of a larger order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX jets placed within 17 months of its launch.

The carrier continues to grow its domestic and international presence, supported by the rapid induction of new aircraft amid rising travel demand in India.
