260 workers on strike at Nokia plant in Chennai

Around 260 permanent workers at the Nokia-Siemens plant in Chennai have gone on a strike to protest the alleged removal of 52 workers, reports CNBC-TV18.

Around 260 permanent workers at the Nokia-Siemens plant in Chennai have gone on a strike to protest the alleged removal of 52 workers, reports CNBC-TV18. The workers belong to the Nokia-Siemens Network India Employees Association which is affiliated to CITU.


The protestors allege that the workers were removed without any notice and an inquiry has been initiated against them. The striking workers have not gone to work from the second shift on Monday.


The company replied that no employee was terminated and that the management is open to dialogue to understand the employees
