Ashok Leyland, India's second largest commercial vehicle maker, on Thursday said its truck and bus sales in April declined 14 percent year-on-year to 7,487 units.
Sales of its small truck Dost rose 1 percent to 2,236 units. Excluding that, its sales were down 19 percent to 5,251 units.
Sales of commercial vehicles, especially medium and heavy trucks, have taken a hit over the last one year as logistics companies and truck operators have delayed fleet expansions amid the overall slowdown in the economy.
India's top CV maker Tata Motors on Wednesday reported a 4 percent rise in truck and bus sales at 36,025 units.

Ashok Leyland shares closed up 0.7 percent at Rs 22.95 on NSE.
