The DoT's internal committee has recommended regulation of voice based services like Whatsapp and Viber but the government will seek public comments on this issue on July 13. Malvika Jain reports that if the government accepts the recommendations of the DoT panel, telcos may have to seek approval before notifying new tariff plans.
