A Class XI girl returning from her tuition class was abducted, gagged and gang-raped near Thalambur in Chennai on Friday night. Police have arrested all the suspects - a 23-year-old youth and two juveniles.
According to the police, the girl, a government school student, usually returned home from tuition around 7.30 p.m. On Friday, when she didn’t return on time, her worried parents started searching for her. They contacted the tuition center, where staff confirmed she had left around 7.15 pm, according to reports in media.
The family then began looking for her at friends' houses. Around 9 pm, the girl returned home with torn clothes and injuries all over her body. Her family rushed her to a private hospital and informed Thalambur police.
Police, along with child welfare committee officials, arrived at the hospital for an inquiry.
The incident happened only half a kilometre from her house.
