Bengaluru: The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, Karnataka, received a bomb threat email on Monday, confirmed police officials on Wednesday. The officials added that a case has been filed, and the teams have been formed for investigation.
“At the Kempegowda International Airport, Air India received a bomb threat through mail two days ago. We have filed an FIR and an investigation is underway,” said Sajith VJ, deputy commissioner of police, North-East Bengaluru.
The threat was issued prior to the Aero India 2025 event, anticipated to host numerous international representatives, defence companies, and aviation specialists. In response to the threat, law enforcement heightened security measures.
The event is showcasing a comprehensive exhibition featuring advancements in helicopters, fighter aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and missile defence technologies.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), prominent players in the Indian defence sector, are presenting state-of-the-art innovations, including the domestically developed Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas) and the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv).
